Common Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes when learning a new species! This guide highlights the most common issues we see during design approvals and how to avoid them.

Reviewing this page before submitting your design can help speed up the approval process.

👁️ The Eyes Aren't Behind the Mask

A Knightibranch's actual eyes are located on the eye stalks that extend from the top of the helmet and the shell. The mask does not contain the eyes.

✋ Four Fingers

Knightibranchs have four fingers on each hand. Adding a fifth finger is one of the most common design mistakes.

🐌 Slug Feet

Without armor, a Knightibranch's feet should resemble the soft foot of a slug rather than human feet.

🎭 Masks Stay On

Knightibranchs almost always wear their masks. While there may be rare story exceptions, standard references and submissions should show the character wearing their mask.

🌿 Don't Remove Core Traits

Required Core Traits should always be present unless an approved mutation specifically changes or removes them.

✨ Remember Your Starting Mutations

Every standard MYO includes one Eye Mutation and one Body Mutation. Don't forget to choose both!

🛡️ Armor Placement

Standard Knightibranchs may only have up to two armor placements unless a mutation allows additional armor.

👕 Don't Hide Important Features

Clothing and accessories are encouraged, but your submission should clearly show important species features. Always include a clean reference without accessories if needed.

🎨 Keep Your Design Readable

Complex designs are welcome, but important species traits should remain easy to identify. Clear references help everyone appreciate your design.
